Christian and Martina have lived in a tiny village in the middle of a nature reserve and within direct sight of the Baltic Sea since 2012.
In 2022, they were asked if they would be interested in taking over the neighbouring barn with a dreamy thatched-roof house.
They didn't have to think for very long,  they quickly agreed with the family and took over the rural ensemble.
An opportunity like this, both said smilingly, only comes around once in a lifetime.
In spring 2023, they began to renovate the barn, mostly with their own labour, using natural materials and unsual finds.
It was important to them to preserve the old charm of the farm, but also to give it a modern, Nordic touch.
Today, in addition to a large fireplace hall, the barn offering several apartments, like many years before.
Of course, the apartments are all modernised and each has its own garden area, which are rented out to holiday guests seeking peace and quiet.
Plans are already underway for the renovation of the thatched-roof house, which the two will then probably move into themselves.
