The Cottage
Two years ago Stephan and Christian bought a thatched cottage dating from 1695,
not far from the long sandy beaches of St Peter Ording in Northern Germany.
Originally, the cottage was the stable and the stable boy's house on a large farm which no longer exists today.
Built on a large mound for protection against storm surges, it is surrounded by the endless North Frisian meadows.
Although the cottage was in a good condition, it still needed extensive renovation and modernisation to suit the new owners' tastes.
The two Berliners invested a lot of heart and soul, as well as a great deal of their own labour, into the project.
What they couldn't do they quickly taught themselves.
The result is a classic North Frisian thatched cottage with a modern interior and 140 square metres of living space.
Whenever their work as owners of a PR agency and developers of hotel projects allows,
the passionate collectors of art and coffee table books head north to spend their free time here with their dog Anton.
